Trey: "Of course this is going out to John Paluska.  A man
who thoroughly enjoyed himself on his trip to uh..
New Hampshire.  Of course, the reason we played this gig
was because we knew that John could get in without an ID."

Opening standard (no big pre-Nirvana build, though, like
versions of the last few years).  Mike's solo section has
Mike noodling a little.. nothing special.  Pre-charge is
standard.  Both shots at the Note are fine, and Trey's
jamming is fairly engaging.  Charge at 5:09.

"Boy," after NO screaming, at 5:27.  WUDMTF segment
standard, with the usual mock Italian accenting from
Trey.  Since I don't think tramps were employed until next
year at the earliest or something, there is of course no
"tramps segment" in these old versions.  Where the tramps
segment would ordinarily begin, there's just another few
hits on the WUDMTF chorus.  Then a jam segment -- which
like the "tramps jam" of today -- highlights Page.

The jam segment in here is reasonably active, but nothing
hits a chord.  When Trey breaks out at 9:18 (after Page
was center stage.. Mike's not really prominent.. taking
the back seat with Fish), his jamming (which Page mimicks
to some extent, as usual) is reasonably melodious, but
nothing stellar.  Still, what a great f&ckin improvisor
this man was, even way back then..  I suppose he would
hear this and laugh at himself, but to be honest, this
jamming sounds just as good as most of his jamming in YEM
of late.  Not as much control of course, but it really
isn't at all shabby, and well, this was the primary reason
I didn't rate these damn YEMs.  At 11:45 he is trilling
and wigging out like Jimmy Page or someone... no teases or
quotes of anything in here, though.  He's cutting out his
own trilling.

At 12:10 some typical YEM trilling.. and some more
trilling.  DAMN!!!  This version is honestly better than
many I've heard of the last few years..(for exciting
guitar.. Trey has definitely become less self-indulgent
over the years.. but I like it when great guitarists are
self-indulgent!!). Bass and Drums at 12:30, and, akin to
the old versions, Trey is in the background plucking
away.. some chords.  Great stuff from Mike, but nothing
exceptional from Fish.  At 13:23 or so Trey teases Wilson,
and then at 13:39 Mike hits the BOOM BOOM (pause) BOOM
BOOM Wilson notes.. Fish slows the beat down.. And at 14
minutes, it is Wilson (Page is still noodling around in
here, though.. ;-)  Wilson JAM again..).  Great segue.
Excellent version.  Indeed, this whole Wilson opening jam
is very intense.. there's even a great build up to the
opening OOOOOOOOH I'VE BEEN TO STONEHENDGE, I'VE LIVED
ALONE...  niiiiice.. highly recommed this.  Wilson segues
into Peaches, taboot. (and Wilson has a brief Dave's
Energy Guide tease in it from Trey) (C+ rating for the YEM)
